Unsympathetic describes a lack of compassion, understanding, or support toward someone or something.
An unsympathetic boss shows no concern for employees' difficulties.
The word also characterizes things that fail to inspire approval or affection: The protagonist was so unsympathetic that I stopped watching.
In a slightly different sense, unsympathetic can mean opposed or unreceptive to an idea or position: The committee proved unsympathetic to our proposal.
