Unhookable describes something that cannot be unhooked or detached—a clasp designed to stay fastened, a connection meant to be permanent.
In sports, particularly cricket and boxing, unhookable describes a delivery or punch that cannot be countered with a hook shot or hook punch: The bowler's yorker was virtually unhookable.
The word also appears in fishing contexts for a fish too wary or positioned to take a hook.
