unfair terms
One-sided contract language
Unfair terms are contract provisions that heavily favor one party at the expense of the other, typically buried in fine print or dense legal language.
Consumer protection laws in many jurisdictions allow courts to void such terms: The arbitration clause was struck down as an unfair term.
Common examples include excessive penalties, one-sided cancellation rights, or clauses that waive important consumer protections.
