Underwiring is the process of adding a rigid wire support to a bra cup, or the wire itself.
The underwire sits in a channel beneath the breast, providing shape and lift.
As a verb, to underwire is to fit with such support: an underwired bra.
The wire follows the curve of the breast's base, offering more structure than wireless designs.
