unconsolable

Cannot be soothed

Unconsolable means impossible to comfort or soothe—grief or distress so deep that no words or actions can ease it.

This is a less common variant of inconsolable, with identical meaning: The child was unconsolable after losing her dog.

Both forms describe someone beyond the reach of consolation.
