totalling

Reaching a sum

Totalling is the British spelling of totaling, the present participle of total.

To total is to add up to a sum: The bill came to £47, totalling more than we'd budgeted.

In American usage, to total a car is to wreck it beyond repair—the damage totals more than the vehicle's value.
