time of flight
Airborne interval measurement
Time of flight is the duration something takes to travel from one point to another.
In physics and engineering, it typically refers to how long a projectile, particle, or signal remains in motion: The time of flight for the ball was 2.3 seconds.
Time-of-flight sensors measure distance by timing how long light or sound takes to bounce back from an object—used in cameras, lidar, and rangefinders.
