surface parking
Uncovered car storage
Surface parking is parking at ground level in an open lot, as opposed to a parking garage or underground structure.
The term appears most often in urban planning and real estate contexts, where surface parking represents a trade-off between convenience and land use: The downtown block was converted from surface parking to mixed-use development.
