supply teachers
Stand-in classroom educators
Supply teachers are substitute teachers—educators who fill in temporarily when regular teachers are absent.
The term is standard in British English, where American English prefers "substitute teacher" or "sub." The school called in a supply teacher when Mrs. Thornton fell ill.
