strawmanned
Distorted someone's argument
Strawmanned describes having one's position misrepresented in order to make it easier to attack.
Someone who has been strawmanned finds their actual argument replaced with a weaker or more extreme version: I said we should consider alternatives, and suddenly I was strawmanned as being against the whole project.
From the rhetorical term "straw man argument."
