strategic thinkers

Chess-minded decision makers

Strategic thinkers are people who plan with long-term goals in mind, anticipating consequences and considering how pieces fit together.

The phrase appears often in business and military contexts, where decisions ripple outward: We need strategic thinkers, not people focused only on next quarter.

It implies someone who sees the larger picture rather than reacting to immediate pressures.
