starvers
Those who fast
Starvers are people or things that starve—those who go without food, or who deprive others of it.
The word appears in compounds like wage-starvers for employers who pay poverty wages.
In older British slang, starvers were fingerless gloves, perhaps because they left the digits exposed to cold, or because only the destitute wore them.
