sorts out

Gets things straight

Sorts out means to resolve, organize, or fix something that's confused or problematic.

You sort out a misunderstanding by clarifying it, sort out your finances by getting them in order, or sort out a technical glitch by finding the solution.

In British usage, to sort someone out can mean to deal with them decisively, sometimes with implied threat: I'll sort him out if he tries that again.
