slow roll
Deliberately drawn-out disclosure
To slow roll is to delay or drag out a process, often strategically.
In poker, slow rolling means taking an unnecessarily long time to reveal a winning hand—considered poor etiquette.
More broadly, to slow roll someone is to string them along or withhold information that would end their uncertainty: The company slow rolled the merger talks for months.
The noun form describes this tactic: It was a classic slow roll.
