sling psychrometer
Whirled humidity gauge
A sling psychrometer is an instrument for measuring humidity, consisting of two thermometers mounted together—one with a wet wick around its bulb, the other dry.
The user swings it through the air by a handle or chain, then compares the readings; evaporation cools the wet bulb, and the difference between temperatures indicates relative humidity.
