shared narratives
Stories groups hold
Shared narratives are stories, explanations, or frameworks that a group holds in common—the agreed-upon accounts that shape collective identity and understanding.
Nations have shared narratives about their founding; families have them about their history; communities form them around pivotal events.
The shared narrative of the American Dream shapes how people interpret success and failure.
These narratives may be accurate, mythologized, or contested, but their power lies in being collectively believed and transmitted.
