service fault
Missed serving box
A service fault is a failed serve in racket sports like tennis, badminton, or volleyball—one that violates the rules and doesn't count.
The server might hit the ball into the net, land it outside the service box, or step on the baseline.
In tennis, two consecutive service faults result in a double fault, giving the point to the opponent.
