safety seals
Protective closure strips
Safety seals are tamper-evident closures on food, medicine, and other products that show whether a package has been opened.
They include plastic shrink bands around bottle caps, foil seals under lids, and breakable tabs.
The concept became standard after the 1982 Tylenol poisonings, when cyanide-laced capsules killed seven people in Chicago.
Don't buy anything with a broken safety seal.
