renditioned
Covertly moved abroad
Renditioned is the past tense of rendition used as a verb, meaning to transfer a prisoner extrajudicially to another country, typically for interrogation under conditions that would be illegal domestically.
The term emerged in the early 2000s around U.S. counterterrorism practices: Suspected terrorists were renditioned to black sites overseas.
The verb form remains controversial among those who consider rendition only a noun.
