record holders
Best performance keepers
Record holders are people or entities that have achieved the best performance in a measured category—fastest time, highest score, longest distance.
The term implies official recognition: The record holder for most hot dogs eaten defended his title.
Record holders may be current or former, since records exist to be broken.
