reading someone's mind
Knowing unspoken thoughts
Reading someone's mind is knowing what they're thinking without being told—either through supernatural means or, more commonly, through perceptive observation of behavior and context.
The phrase often appears when someone anticipates another's thoughts: You read my mind—I was just about to suggest pizza.
It can also express exasperation at unrealistic expectations: I'm not a mind reader; you have to tell me what you want.
