pulling faces

Distorting your features

Pulling faces is making exaggerated or distorted facial expressions, typically to amuse, mock, or express displeasure.

Children pull faces to make each other laugh; someone might pull faces behind a teacher's back.

More common in British than American English, where *making faces* is the usual phrase: Stop pulling faces at your sister.
