princely sum
Extremely generous payment
A princely sum is an impressively large amount of money, often used ironically for amounts that are actually small: They offered me the princely sum of fifty dollars for a day's work.
The phrase invokes royal wealth, but contemporary usage almost always carries sarcasm about inadequate compensation.
