pox party
Intentional exposure event
A pox party is a gathering where parents deliberately expose their children to a child infected with chickenpox, hoping to induce immunity through natural infection rather than vaccination.
The practice was more common before the chickenpox vaccine became widely available: She caught it at a pox party when she was six.
Now largely discouraged by medical authorities.
