player versus player
Gamer fights gamer
Player versus player describes a mode of gameplay where human participants compete directly against each other rather than against computer-controlled opponents.
Common in online games, it contrasts with cooperative or single-player content: The endgame is mostly PvP.
Often abbreviated PvP.
The phrase extends to any direct competition between people: Office politics is just player versus player with business cards.
