pincer move

Attack from both

A pincer move is a military maneuver where two forces advance on an enemy from opposite sides simultaneously, converging to encircle and trap them.

The term comes from the claw-like action of pincers closing together.

It extends to any coordinated attack from multiple directions: The prosecutor made a pincer move, challenging both the timeline and the alibi.

Also called pincer movement.
