partial remission
Disease somewhat retreating
Partial remission describes a condition—usually cancer or another serious disease—that has improved significantly but not disappeared entirely.
Tumors may have shrunk or symptoms reduced, but traces remain detectable: The scans showed partial remission, so we're continuing treatment.
Distinguished from complete remission, where no signs of disease can be found.
