painted figures
Tinted artistic forms
Painted figures are miniature sculptures—typically of people, creatures, or characters—that have been decorated with paint.
The term most often refers to tabletop gaming miniatures for games like Warhammer or Dungeons & Dragons, where hobbyists spend hours detailing tiny warriors, monsters, and heroes: His shelf was lined with painted figures from various armies.
The phrase also applies to collectible statuettes, model railroad people, or any small three-dimensional forms that have been hand-painted.
