overemploying
Using too many
Overemploying means hiring more workers than necessary for a given task or operation.
A business might overemploy during uncertain times to avoid being caught short-staffed, or a government agency might overemploy due to bureaucratic inefficiency: The department was overemploying by about thirty positions.
The term also applies to working someone in a secret second job while already employed elsewhere—a practice that emerged with remote work: He was overemploying himself at two tech companies simultaneously.
