organic pesticides
Plant-derived bug killers
Organic pesticides are pest-control substances derived from natural sources—plants, minerals, bacteria, or other organisms—rather than synthetic chemicals.
The term appears in agricultural and gardening contexts where avoiding artificial compounds matters: We use only organic pesticides on our tomatoes. "Organic" here means naturally occurring, not carbon-based in the chemistry sense.
These pesticides are permitted in certified organic farming, though "natural" doesn't necessarily mean safer or less toxic than synthetic alternatives.
