needlewoman

One who sews

A needlewoman is a woman who sews, especially one skilled in embroidery, tailoring, or other fine needlework.

The term can describe either a professional seamstress or an accomplished amateur: She was an expert needlewoman who made all her own clothes.

The word sounds old-fashioned now, as does its male counterpart, needleman.
