naked as a jay bird
Wearing absolutely nothing
Completely nude, without any clothing whatsoever.
The expression emphasizes total exposure, though why jays specifically became the bird of choice is unclear—all birds are featherless at birth.
The phrase is folksy and often humorous: He locked himself out of the hotel room naked as a jay bird.
Sometimes spelled jaybird.
