mindreading

Knowing unspoken thoughts

Mindreading is the supposed ability to perceive another person's thoughts directly, without communication.

In everyday use, it often describes intuiting what someone is thinking or feeling: After twenty years of marriage, she could practically mindread.

The term also appears sarcastically when someone expects you to know something they haven't said: I'm not mindreading here—you have to tell me what you want.
