making time
Clearing your schedule
Making time means creating opportunity in a busy schedule for something or someone that matters: I know you're swamped, but try to make time for yourself.
The phrase acknowledges that time doesn't simply appear—it must be carved out deliberately.
Separately, *making time* is older slang for flirting or pursuing someone romantically: He was making time with the waitress.
