little penguins
Australia's smallest seabirds
Little penguins are the smallest species of penguin, standing about a foot tall and native to the coastlines of Australia and New Zealand.
They're also called fairy penguins or, in Māori, kororā.
Their feathers appear blue-gray rather than the classic black, earning them the alternate name blue penguins: We watched the little penguins waddle ashore at dusk.
