little friend

Tiny trusted buddy

Little friend is an affectionate or playful term for something small that accompanies or assists a person, ranging from a pet to a trusted object.

In euphemistic use, it often refers to a weapon, especially a handgun, with mock endearment: Say hello to my little friend—a line made famous in the 1983 film *Scarface*.

The phrase can also be a coy reference to a penis or, in dated usage, a woman's menstrual period.
