lion and mouse
Aesop's unlikely duo
Lion and mouse refers to Aesop's fable in which a mouse spared by a lion later frees the lion from a hunter's net by gnawing through the ropes.
The story illustrates that the weak can help the strong, and that kindness is rarely wasted: It was a lion and mouse situation—I helped her years ago, and now she's returning the favor.
