late entry
Last-minute submission
A late entry is someone or something that joins a competition, process, or list after the usual deadline or after others have already begun.
The phrase often appears in contests, races, or applications: The film was accepted as a late entry to the festival.
In sports pools or predictions, a late entry may face penalties or restrictions.
It can also describe a last-minute addition to any category: This album is a late entry for my favorites of the year.
