Kaleidoscope vision is a visual disturbance in which sight fragments into geometric patterns, prism-like colors, or shimmering zigzag lines—resembling the view through a kaleidoscope.

It typically affects peripheral vision and often signals an ocular migraine or migraine aura: I knew a headache was coming when the kaleidoscope vision started.

Episodes usually last fifteen to thirty minutes and resolve on their own.
