hot drop
Airborne tactical deployment
A hot drop is a high-risk tactical insertion into hostile territory, typically by helicopter or aircraft landing directly in a combat zone.
The term comes from military usage but has spread to video games, especially battle royale games, where it means landing in a heavily contested area with many other players: We're doing a hot drop at the main compound.
The appeal is immediate action and better loot, balanced against higher chance of early elimination.
