ga-ga

Madly in love

Ga-ga means excessively enthusiastic or infatuated, often to the point of losing one's senses: She went ga-ga over the new puppy.

The word can also describe someone mentally confused or senile, especially from old age: Grandpa's gone a bit ga-ga.

The reduplication mimics infantile babbling, suggesting a reversion to childlike or irrational behavior.
