forget oneself
Act without restraint
To forget oneself is to lose awareness of one's own situation, dignity, or proper behavior.
The phrase usually describes acting improperly—speaking out of turn, losing composure, or behaving beneath one's station: She forgot herself and snapped at the interviewer.
Less commonly, it can mean becoming so absorbed in something that self-consciousness disappears: He forgot himself in the music.
