flatting
Sharing rented accommodation
Flatting is the process of making something flat or level.
In painting, flatting means applying a flat, matte finish rather than a glossy one.
In music, flatting a note means lowering it by a half step.
In Australia and New Zealand, flatting means sharing a rented apartment with others: I spent my university years flatting with three roommates.
