fitted cover
Tailored protective layer
A fitted cover is a protective or decorative covering designed to hug the contours of what it protects, typically with elastic edges or tailored shaping that holds it in place.
Fitted sheets for mattresses are the most common example: The fitted cover kept slipping off the corners.
The term extends to furniture protectors, car covers, and equipment cases that conform to specific shapes rather than draping loosely.
