finetuning

Making small corrections

Finetuning is the process of making small, precise adjustments to improve performance or fit.

A musician finetunes an instrument; an engineer finetunes settings.

In machine learning, finetuning means taking a pretrained model and training it further on specialized data to adapt it for a specific task: The model was finetuned on medical records.

Also spelled fine-tuning or fine tuning.
