fake enthusiasm
Hollow performative zeal
Fake enthusiasm is performed eagerness or excitement that doesn't reflect genuine feeling.
It's the forced cheer of customer service voices, the exaggerated Oh wow, that's so interesting! at a dinner party, or the hollow team spirit demanded by corporate culture.
The phrase often implies the performance is visible: Her fake enthusiasm wasn't fooling anyone.
