emergency accommodation
Temporary refuge lodging
Emergency accommodation is temporary housing provided to people in urgent need—those who are homeless, fleeing domestic violence, displaced by disaster, or otherwise without shelter.
It includes shelters, hostels, and short-term placements arranged by local authorities or charities: The council placed the family in emergency accommodation while searching for permanent housing.
The term is more common in British than American English.
