Drain flies are small fuzzy-winged insects that breed in the organic buildup inside drains, sewage systems, and other moist areas with decaying matter.
Also called moth flies for their fuzzy, moth-like appearance.
They're a nuisance but harmless, often appearing in bathrooms and kitchens where drains haven't been cleaned: We had drain flies until I scrubbed out the shower drain.
