day return
Same-day round-trip
A day return is a discounted round-trip ticket valid for travel to a destination and back on the same day.
The term is primarily British, used for train and bus fares: A day return to Edinburgh, please.
The discount reflects the railway's assumption you won't need overnight accommodations at your destination.
