détaché
Short separate strokes
Détaché is a bowing technique in string playing where each note is played with a separate stroke, the bow changing direction for each note without leaving the string.
The result is a smooth, connected sound distinct from staccato's crisp separation: The passage calls for détaché in the violin part.
From French for "detached."
